For the June meeting, the Ocoee Garden Club traveled to Sunshine Hollow in McMinn County to walk through the many and varied gardens developed by David Rhyne. There are hundreds of daylilies and hosta plants to enjoy as plantings and they are also for sale. In addition, there are extensive plantings of ferns, native azaleas, roses, and many other perennials, shrubs, and trees.
There are lakes and wetlands and an open area focused on a gazebo suitable for weddings and other celebrations. The owner and developer has had many years of experience with plants and has advanced degrees in forest management. He has developed pocket wilderness areas and trails throughout the Southeast, and he spoke to the group about these endeavors.
