District III Fundraiser a Big Hit

District III garden clubs recently held a fundraiser entitled “Celebrations!” This event was open to the public and was held at Heritage House in Chattanooga.

Members of District III presented Celebrations of Seasons and Special Occasions with family and friends through table artistry. Designs consisted of tables for two, and buffet, tray, and exhibition tables. Members created their table artistry designs using their own “Celebrations” theme and included cards citing the origin of their inspiration.

The Judges Council of District III provided three exhibition tables as educational demonstrations. Each of the members’ exhibits were openly discussed by the judges in terms of point scale values and then questions from all participants were addressed.

Afterwards, a vote was taken from the participants for first-, second-, and third-place winners. Cash prizes were awarded for each place.

DIII-First Place

Cecile Broz, a member of Magnolia Garden Club, Cleveland, was voted first place with her table design for “Dinner with Someone Special.” Dark red Gerbera daisies and carnations tied her floral unit with her hand-pieced underlay and other table components.

DIII 2nd Place

Kathy Kulak, a member of Hickory Valley Garden Club, captured second place for her 1920s retro-themed table for two. Her table covering with retro drawings on the corners and a floral unit with mums, feathers, and pearls enforced the theme.

Angela Drake, a new member of Crestwood Garden Club, won third place with her wedding themed table and her beautiful hydrangea floral cake design. Pressed flowers under clear glass added additional interest to her exhibit.
